Goal: Today’s lesson is finding rates.
1. Introduction (5 minutes)
Warm Up : Work with your partner to write as many rates as you can in two minutes. Remember: rates need to have an action verb at the beginning and must be realistic. For example, "Sleep 8 hours per night."
2. Key Ideas (5 minutes)
A Rate is a ratio of two quantities using different units.
A Unit Rate compares a quantity to one unit of another quantity.
Equivalent rates have the same unit rate.
3. Example 1 (5 minutes)
Writing a Rate
Work independently to answer On Your Own Question 1. Then compare answers with your partner.
4. Example 2 (10 minutes)
Finding a Unit Rate using a ratio table.
Work independently to answer On Your Own Questions 2 and 3. Then compare answers with your partner.
