Goal: Today’s lesson is writing ratios.


1. Introduction (5 minutes)
Warm Up (Dynamic Classroom): Start Thinking! / Warm Up questions. (Collect homework)


2. Key Idea (5 minutes)
·         ratios can be part-to-part, part-to-whole, or whole-to-part.


3. EXAMPLE 1 (10 minutes)
Writing Ratios
·         Identify each of the examples as being part-to-part, part-to-whole, or whole-to-part comparisons
·         Work in pairs to answer On Your Own Questions 1 and 2.


4. EXAMPLE 2 (10 minutes)
Using a Tape Diagram
·         A tape diagram: a diagram that looks like a segment of tape. It shows the relationship between two quantities.
·         Example

5. EXAMPLE 3 (10 minutes)

·         Work through the written examples.
